Marie Claire ‘The Parcel’ Spring Edit 2014

Marie Claire’s new beauty box – The Parcel – has now been shipped and I was very excited to receive mine in the mail on Friday!

Overall, they have put together an impressive launch. Marie Claire obviously has the brand recognition, the cash and the clout to be able to hit their first box out of the ballpark, and its good to see that all of the promotion wasn’t just talk. I was impressed by the communication (letting everyone know when the boxes were being shipped, etc), the quality of the contents (valued at well over the $25 price tag) and the customer service (I queried a charge on my CC and they were quick and clear with their response).

So, what’s in the box?

  1. Lancôme Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector (7ml)
An anti-ageing serum which may be a little too much for my current age/skin type, but if it helps to reduce pores then I’m in!

  2. Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain in ‘Miami Fever’ (8ml)
I’m not a big fan of stains because they never seem to take on my lips. I was really impressed with the Revlon Infallible Colour Lip Duo that I tried during VAMFF this year, so I’m definitely willing to give it a go. This shade might be a touch too orange for my complexion but, then again, you never know how these things will look until you actually try them.

  3. Gwen Stefani by O.P.I. Nail Lacquer in ‘Hey Baby’ (15ml)
I looooove OPI polish, and this colour is going to look awesome on my toes this summer. It’s full size too, which is *AWESOME!*

  4. Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up Liner (0.1g)
I’ve never been very good at putting on eyeliner, but have recently started practicing using some NARS eyeliner minis that I’ve received in various Mecca Cosmetica Beauty Loop boxes. Looking forward to having a play with this one too.

  5. Benefit They’re Real! Mascara (3g)
Just in time, because I’m all out of mascara!

  6. L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray (55g)
I don’t really use hairspray all that often, and I honestly have so many of these, that it’s really of no use to me. It’s good hairspray though!

  7. Pantene Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo & Conditioner (2x 40ml)
I’m not a fan of Pantene, but I’m sure my OH will make good use of them. Travel size bottles = nifty!

I think it was a pretty solid first effort from MC. I would’ve liked to have seen some more luxe/cult brands in the box, but I won’t be quick to judge on that considering my previous experience with beauty boxes. I think that since they’re not trying to customise the boxes for each subscriber they are more likely to give everyone a decent box (case in point!) Looking forward to the next box in December!

Have you received Marie Claire’s first ‘Parcel’? What were your thoughts?
