I’ve been saying it for months now, but this time I finally mean it: I think it’s time to cancel my Bellabox subscription.
I received my September Bellabox yesterday and to say that I was underwhelmed by it has got to be the understatement of the century. I really thought that after last month’s box, things were on the up-and-up, but it must have been an anomaly. This month’s box, well, to put it bluntly… it sucks! Three of the products aren’t actually skincare or makeup (yes, THREE!) and nothing in it is super exciting or what I’d consider to be “luxe”, so I’m finally going to just give up and click the big ol’ [CANCEL] button.
So what’s in this month’s box?
- Revlon Age Defying DNA Night Cream (5g)
I’m always in need of night cream, so I’ll give this a try. When it comes to moisturiser, I never buy supermarket brands (I am a skincare snob!) so the odds are pretty good that I won’t be buying this either way. The teeny jar is cute, though, and could definitely be used for storing another product when travelling. - 1000 Hour Tweezers
I’ve never heard of this brand, and I already have a zillion pairs of tweezers lying around, so this is of no use to me. - 1000 Hour Lashes in “Divine Diamonds”
Oh great, fake lashes with fake diamonds on them, from the same brand I’ve never heard of. They look like something you’d wear to a Halloween party. No thanks! - Gliders Hair Ties in “Candy Crush”
The third item that is not actually a skincare or makeup product. I actually really like this style of hair ties, so I’m not completely disappointed. The only problem is that they’re bright pink. I suppose I can live with that? - Sleek Makeup Eye Dust in “Vintage” (6.5g)
OK, this is actually something that looks pretty cool. A full-sized pot of eye dust from a UK brand that I’ve heard good things about from beauty bloggers. It’s in a really pretty gold lamé colour, which evokes a bit of vintage glam, and is completely my style. Woo! - PHR Professional Recovery Leave-In Moisturiser (15ml)
I will most likely try this, as the ends of my hair are quite blah. - Revlon Colorstay Foundation in “Natural Beige” (1.5ml)
This and the previous item are obviously a bit of a spack filler. It is highly unlikely that I will ever use this!
Other things to point out: the box arrived towards the absolute end of September (it’s practically October) and there was also no fancy blue and white box this month either, which made everything look even less appealing. Fail, fail and even more fail.
I signed up to Marie Claire’s new beauty subscription box, The Parcel, last night in a knee-jerk reaction to my feelings about this month’s Bellabox. The Parcel is a bit pricier and will only be sent quarterly but, from what I’ve seen of the first box, it’s going to be well worth it in comparison.
