Bellabox December 2013

My Bellabox has arrived, and it’s a case of better late than never. The boxes seem to be getting sent out later and later every month, and having to worry about whether it’s actually going to arrive tends to take some of the sparkle out of receiving it.

Also, whats up with the new boxes? I loved the previous brown and turquoise boxes because they were strong and sturdy and I could use them to store things in. These new boxes are very unimpressive and I really hope they’re only temporary!

Anyway, as there has already been enough griping on social media about box delays and the like, I’ll just get straight into my first impressions. Here are the products I received:

  1. Mary Kay Mini Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover (29ml)
Mary Kay is like Nutrimetics or Amway or something, right? Which means I would probably never buy their products, even if I liked them. I don’t tend to use makeup remover (because my Eve Lom cleanser does everything and more) but I do like the mini size of this product (handy for travel!) Also, it says that it is oil-free, and yet it looks like it contains oil. How perplexing!
  2. Mary Kay Dual Lip Glaze in ‘Redwood’ (12ml)
This lip glaze looks really interesting. The colour is inside a separate tube to the actual gloss. I couldn’t work out why that was significant, so I looked it up – apparently the clear gloss “neutralises” the inner colour. I still don’t know why that’s important, but I’ll try it March/April as I think the shade would suit an autumn look better.
  3. ASAP Clearskin Gel (15ml)
I received this product in a previous box (in place of the item I was actually supposed to get) and I think I used it all wrong (don’t ask!) As it was probably my fault, I’m willing to give it another go. Note to self: read instructions first – this is not a cleanser!
  4. Avene Antirougeurs Fort Relief Concentrate (5ml)
This product is supposed to help reduce redness, which I sometimes get on my cheeks due to sensitivity. Definitely looking forward to trying that.
  5. Romy Body Lotion in ‘Eucalyptus & Lemongrass’ (40ml)
I wish there was a way to tell BB that I don’t want body lotions, as I never use them. I do like the scent on this one though, it’s nice and fresh.
  6. Eslor Skincare Sample Pack (4x5ml)
If there’s one thing I love it’s good skincare, and this little pack comes with a cleanser, moisturiser, mask and scrub sample – perfect for a pampering night in! While I’m fairly loyal to the products I currently use, I am always happy to try new skincare if it’s of a decent quality.
  7. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Daily Cleansing Gel & Daily Calming Facial Lotion (5ml)
I’ve used Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Body Lotion before, but I’m a little hesitant to try their skincare. I just don’t know about the quality, since it’s just a supermarket brand. Yes, I am a skincare snob. So sue me.

Also included in my box was a little Bellabox tote bag – and I’m not kidding when I say little. I’m not sure what they were thinking when they designed these, but it’s way smaller than any tote I’ve ever used and the material is a little flimsy. I will probably just end up donating this to charity when I clean out my wardrobe next month.

All in all, I think it was an OK box, but not overwhelming. I think it was always going to be hard to beat last December’s box, as they’d set a pretty high bar for themselves.

What was the stand-out product for you in this month’s Bellabox? Let me know in the comments below!
